President Message
If any organization is personified as a human being, the management will be analogous to its backbone – providing it with a support so that it can run in a longer race. But if the backbone is weak, the body will slack off. For a strong management, an expert management professional is a prerequisite.
Over the time, the cities have become crowded with business schools. Looking around we can find so many institutes which are offering mere certificates of degree or diploma in management without preparing them for the actual cut throat competition existing in the corporate world.
This was not the same when it all began!
When the roadmap of establishment of B- schools was laid, the prospect was to encourage the youngsters to set foot in the world of entrepreneurship. It aimed at planting good quality personality traits, management and communication skills in the students which later will give fruits: when they will enter business world. These B-schools were expected to enhance the management grade skills, innovative and creative thoughts. This roadmap was way too idealistic for being a reality. Changes are inevitable. As the time flew, the materialism crept into management education. The management schools which were instituted to elevate the business skills were also devoured by money minded business tactic. Some B-schools were established with the only aim of earning profit, brushing aside the actual vision.
Corruption has its roots running deep in every field but no other educational field is corroded in the way management studies is. This is so because there is a governing body to keep an eye on the education and professionals as well. There are institutions like IMA and Bar federation to set benchmarks and to assure legal rights for the education and professionals of their respective fields. Moreover, for every profession there is a unique designation, which provides them with the opportunity to get recognized by the field they belong to. But when it comes to management professionals, in spite of the fact that they contribute a major part in running an institution and indeed in shaping the economy of the country, they don’t have any designation which can make them stand in a different light.
This growing corruption and prevailing injustice led the foundation stone in the building of Federation of Indian Management Professionals (FIM) back in 2010 which later came to realization in June 2020. It aims at filling all the loopholes which are causing management education loose its charm. It is working at assuring quality education to the aspiring students and legal rights to management professionals.
